KARACHI,: A meeting of the Threat Assessment Committee was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar to review security arrangements for prominent personalities, political leaders and religious figures.
The Sindh home minister directed the relevant authorities to reassess the security arrangements for all important personalities and ensure that security was provided in accordance with the committee’s threat assessment reports and recommendations.
Lanjar ordered action to withdraw security provided without proper authorization and stressed that the deployment of security personnel must be based on actual needs and the nature of potential threats.
He said the practice of deploying unnecessary personnel in the name of VIP security must be discontinued. Security arrangements for VIPs, he added, should be determined on the basis of genuine threats and available intelligence.
The minister emphasized the need for transparency and effective oversight in security arrangements, stating that threat assessment must remain the primary consideration when deciding whether to provide security to any individual.
He further directed that security resources be utilized according to requirements and priorities, while ensuring public safety and the availability and effective deployment of security personnel.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Home Iqbal Memon, Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho, representatives of law enforcement agencies and other relevant officials.
