KARACHI, October 25, 2026: The Sindh government has decided to further improve and modernize its mobile health units to make healthcare services more effective and accessible to the public, Advisor to the Chief Minister Sindh for Rehabilitation Giyan Chand Essrani said.
He stated that over the past decade, the Mobile Diagnostic and Emergency Healthcare Services had treated 5,019,864 patients and conducted 1,274,322 laboratory and other medical tests across the province.
Essrani said that a model mobile hospital in Umerkot provides a range of specialized medical facilities, including a mobile intensive care unit (ICU), gynecology services and neonatal intensive care units. So far, the model mobile hospital has conducted 3,654 deliveries and provided medical services to 18,178 patients, he added.
He said mobile health units also offer medical examinations, blood tests and relevant diagnostic tests for cancer detection, providing essential healthcare facilities to communities.
Emphasizing the need to increase public awareness about these services, the advisor said that providing medical facilities alone was not enough; people must also know where mobile hospitals are operating, when they are available and what services they offer.
Essrani directed the relevant officials to launch a comprehensive public awareness campaign through social media, print and electronic media to inform people about the services provided by mobile health units.
He also instructed officials to make a dedicated website and digital portal operational within one week. The portal will contain patient records, details of medical tests and information about healthcare staff to improve transparency, access to information and the overall effectiveness of the mobile healthcare system.
